From the sultan of silly comes a comical, kid-friendly guide to avoiding naughty behavior. The Toy Hog. The Blabbermouth. The Food Face, the Belcher, and (shudder) the Nose Picker. They're all here, and more - a veritable rogues' gallery of the rudest, crudest, meanest manners found wherever children slurp, grab, desert the table, or cut in line. With his trademark retro artwork and hilarious running commentary, Stoo Hample teaches children good manners by example - of what not to do - and bolsters his case with a final broad hint that the reader who fails to take heed may soon be the star of a book just like this one.
My 5 year old grandaughter who mostly has good manners thought this book was hilarious and recognized many of the bad manners among those in her school and family! It gives us a reference to talk about those manners she can improve. I bought it to use at my school but decided that the fluff farts wouldn't work. I did show it around to teachers and all thought it was giggle material.
Hilarious!!! And with learning value!!

VERY amusing, FUN book for my two girls, 6 & 4. They loved everything from the different bad manners to the drawings (clever!) to the rhymes. My 6 yr old wanted to cover every detail (including drawings with notes) on each page. She wants her teacher to read it...the hesitation might be the nose-picker and the stinker, where the word 'fart' is used. However, to commend the author who must have written this in the 60's with this as a re-issue, it's not even offensive (as such things in kids' books are usually a turn-off to me). This book was a gift from Uncle, arrived yesterday and they haven't let go yet. We also pointed out together where their manners fall short. Really, the style is a piece of my own childhood, so enjoyable. Go for this one. Probably good to ages 10 at least! Stoo Hample's Book of Bad Manners 12/19/2009 - Just to update, my now-8yr old still loves this, finds it sooo amusing. (My other daughter was asleep when we read this tonight.) Too bad this one doesn't get more hype. It is VERY funny for kids, probably a good gag book for some adults.
