In the warm, humorous and winning style of Garrison Keillor, Elmer Towns tells stories of his youth as a young pastor which are not only humorous, but convey timeless, godly principles for ministry. This description may be from another edition of this product.
Dr. Towns' book is a delightful, must read for every Pastor. As an Assistant Pastor, I can relate to several of the stories that Dr. Towns tells concerning his early ministry in his first church in Savannah, Georgia. His stories of his first funeral, first wedding, and how he and his congregation painted "the whole church in one day" are humorous and inspiring. As with his "Stories from the Front Porch", Dr. Towns is both inspiring and practical. At the end of each chapter, he points out several principles that he learned from the events in the chapter. I highly recommend it for Pastors and laypersons as well.Barry D. Black Assistant Pastor-Joy Baptist Church Hull, GA
