Frances Hamerstrom, a Wisconsin Environmentalist, who worked with Aldo Leopold. A delightful memoir of a debutant brought to Central Wisconsin by her husband to study the Prairie Chicken. Absolutely... This description may be from another edition of this product.
This is a delightful and sometimes very funny collection of essays by wildlife biologist Frances Hamerstom. She was doing a tough naturalist's job by any standards, in a role dominated by men. But this is also a testimony to her amazing relationship with her biologist husband. The pair, students of Aldo Leopold, chose to brave very difficult conditions for the love of studying the vanishing Prairie Chicken. I recommend this book to all naturalists, and especially to anyone involve in prairie restoration.
