I had the previous version of the book on ASD and loved it during my under-grad. The author has done a magnificent job in combining the ASD and LRFD in the new edition. It is by far my most favorite steel design book and I cannot live without having it in my desk. Examples are clear, it touches all the main topics most importantly it is well organized and easy to follow. The book is worth every penny! Thank you Mccormac!
comprehensive book on steel construction

It has clear cohesive text but it can use a bit more examples. It is comprehensive and I did not see any errors. Overall great book, i benefited so much from it.

I used the third edition of this book (LRFD) in my undergraduate and I used this edition for my graduate class. It is a great help for me as I am not a steel expert. I like it's simple form and the use of both LRFD and ASD in all examples.
Good book for students and general reference, but...

I studied with this book in my years at the university. I was looking for a good reference book and I decided to buy this one. But when i went thru the chapters, I realized that all the topics are very student-oriented (as it's saying in the book's preface). I'm still looking for good advanced analysis and design book. If you are an engineer, starting in the steel analysis and design, this is the book for you. If your are an engineer looking for in-deep and advanced reference and explanations...look for another.
