This book is written for an individual that needs to find out how things work and how to get where they want to go. In other words, almost everybody. It really is a self-teaching guide. As you begin to read the book, you are instructed to go to a different section depending on your answers to questions. That way, you are finding out specifically what you need, and don't have to wade through lots of information that would apply to others, but not necessarily yourself. Not only does it cover 'making it in the system' it also goes over Improving General Reading Ability, Reading Textbooks, Writing Short Papers, Writing Term Papers, and taking Exams. Very useful.
