A year after defeating the latest of criminal families in Darlington County, a case that cost her the family home, Suzanne and Aunt Francis are staying with Suzanne's boyfriend Dean Warren still. Crews work to restore the ashy remains of the family home while Suzanne funds the construction by taking only small cases. One Sunday evening, after family dinner, An estranged Mrs. Tuttle calls with a proposition. Her late husband has been contacting her from beyond the grave to make a handsome donation to a sketchy charity. Reluctantly, Suzanne takes the case, beginning her investigation at the asylum where Mr. Tuttle had spent many of his days. She and Sam join an overnight tour allowing her to pursue her investigation while he keeps track of the curators.
