It was a pleasure for me to come across a book that helps fitness professionals with their motivation. A lot of times, we are called to offer fitness motivation of the highest caliber to our clients, and we often do an excellent job, and the problem is a lot of times we don't Know how to renew, rejuvenate and even motivate ourselves after a hard day of work. She starts off by reminding fitness professionals about the environment they work in, by saying "Get a group together for a class and the air becomes charged with exuberance, enthusiasm, and passion for physical activity". This is powerful, and I think a lot of times fitness pros take this for granted, this is the remarkable environment that many of us find ourselves in. This is fertile ground that we can cultivate to create miracles. Talk about fitness motivation at its highest level! The author emphasizes communications skills, she shows us that the written and spoken word have a profound effect on the success or failure of a fitness program. She does a wonderful job in teaching us the dangers behind using words such as "compliance and adherence". She delves into the issue of behavior and the role it plays in fitness motivation. She does a wonderful job in communicating in very clear and simple terms, how behavior is important in understanding fitness motivation. She got my attention when she stated that people are most likely to be successful in their behavior change efforts when they are extensively engaged on the decisions affecting their lives! She is on point with this statement, and it goes a long way in understanding and empowering clients. As I kept on reading the book,I was confident that this was a work of integrity, judging by the way in which it is presented. Overall, I must say that the book is refreshing, and it helps you put the whole puzzle together for your betterment and prosperity. From a personal trainer

This is an excellent resource for those who work with people who desire fitness. Like all personal trainers, I have seen too many people start in a program only to experience unexpected problems that derail their progress. Having strategies in place to handle those "bumps in the road" that cause programs to end allows the person to continue and makes them stronger the next time they encounter a problem. This book will help people who either can't afford or haven't thought to hire a personal trainer to get them through the tough times. Dr. Brehm has given solutions to real-life difficulties.
Anyone who works in the health and fitness biz should read!!

Having been in the health and fitness industry for over 20 years, I recognize one of the disappointing truths about this business: due to no fault of your own, over half of your clientele will no longer be with you after six months have passed. It is sad, but it is true. The good news is that there ARE things you can do to boost this number, if only by a little bit. And that's by learning more about what motivates people to exercise and what you can do to effect real behavior change. This book is a winner, just like her previous book on stress management techniques. This is another of the health and wellness books that I think so highly of, I include its link on my website.
