Successfully Raising Young Black Men touched me like no other book has. It was heart felt, compassionate, and enlightening. While reading this book, I laughed, cried, said Amen, and pondered on my own situation. Pastor Barnes combined a wealth of personal experience and solid Bible teaching in a down-to-earth book that presents parenting African American boys as the responsibility and privilege of parents. Whether we like it or not, there is a war going on around us. A spiritual war! God has given parents places on the battlefield, and this book will help you take your place with confidence.

I read this book in one evening after sitting down to start on it. It is full of excellent advice for parents or teachers working with children. I recommend this book to anyone who is raising young children of any race. It is a very encouraging and heart-felt book.

As a new parent the nuggets of Godly wisdom that are in this book help me to be a more confident parent. This book was easy to read and easy to understand, which in turn will allow me to be able to apply the teachings and to successfully raise my child. This book is humorous and very well written I would recommend this book to everyone I know!!
