Loved this book. I googled the author after reading an article she wrote for Brooklyn Botanic Garden's Kitchen Gardening Book and which was so beautifully written I knew I wanted to find more of her work. Love her garden artistry and the lovely photos of the plants and gardens-the only thing that could be better would be to see them in person. I learned a lot from the practical tips she shares on making the process of managing a garden easier. I am a native plant enthusiastist and though I raised my eyebrows a bit at her reference of using some known invasives in her gardens, still I was deeply reminded of gardening for beauty, fragrance, whimsy and solitude and the pure joy it can bring to one's soul. I like her perspective on imperfections and how she gently yet firmly reminds us gardens are never done or perfect, always a work of progress that draws energy forth through us in our quest to have experiment, learn and have fun. The chapter "In Conclusion" was the perfect ending and should be read by every gardener. I will definitey be reading more of her work.

Other people write about the drudgery of gardening and Suzy writes about the joys of gardening, using common sense and working with Mother Nature. It's a pleasure to read her books and a double treat to see the beautiful photographs.
A garden book that is fun to read

I highly recommend this book for both new and experienced gardeners. It will make an excellent addition to any gardener's library. It is full of beautiful pictures (as are most gardening books) but it is also a fun book to read. I kept it on my coffee table to peruse all summer.
Bought for a gardener

I actually don't garden, but I purchased this book for my mother. She absolutely loves it. I think she has read it from cover to cover. I personally don't know what a book on gardening should contain, but my mother finds the book very informative.
