When 27-year-old Sarah Levy opened her own pastry shop in 2004, she was barely out of college. She hails from a noted Chicago-based restaurant dynasty, but the success she's achieved has been all hers, and she's since gone on to open a second location inside Macy's. Sweetness shows how anyone can make delicious desserts and sweet snacks regardless of cooking experience (or lack thereof) -- especially younger women who may not have a lot of kitchen training, but want to have a few go-to recipes for events, gifts, or that special someone. This is the book for readers who want to learn how to make top-quality treats that will knock the socks off anyone who samples them. Levy's warm personality, step-by-step instructions, and vibrant color photos make this the perfect addition to the bookshelf of both budding chefs and seasoned pros.

No truly elegant dining occasion can be considered complete without the inclusion of a fabulous dessert. Even an ordinary meal time occasion can be made extra special by the inclusion of a treat from the kitchen. That's why "Sweetness: Delicious Baked Treats for Every Occasion", a 144-page, beautifully illustrated compendium of thoroughly 'kitchen cook friendly' snacks and desserts will prove to be a popular addition to any kitchen cookbook collection, but most especially that of the novice family chef. Enhanced throughout with engaging anecdotal commentaries, and featuring clear and easy step-by-step instructions, the recipes range from Sinful Chocolate Souffles; Banana-Chocolate Chip Pound Cake; and Raspberry Pepin Jam; to Lemon Baby Rattle Cookies; Holiday Vanilla Bean Sugar Cookies; and Rafael's Righteous Cream Cheese Brownies. Of special note are the opening chapters of Sarah Levy's personal history and detailed basic information that all kitchen bakers will need to know to achieve success in their culinary efforts. "Sweetness" is enthusiastically recommended and guaranteed to be a popular addition to personal and community library cookbook collections.
A unique take on a baking book

What I love most about Sweetness is that it not only includes Sarah's favorite recipes from her shop and The French Pastry School of Chicago, but also her family traditions and treats from her childhood (she includes Pillsbury chocolate cake mix in one recipe). There are recipes for the novice baker as well as recipes challenging enough for those more experienced. The photography itself is guaranteed to make you drool. If you're even remotely interested in baking, you're gonna want this book on your shelf - not to mention that it makes a wonderful gift.
Great Book! Love it

This cookbook is terrific. Although I am not any kind of chef, I bought this book as a gift for my Mom. Before I gave it to her I tried a few of the easier recipes and they turned out fantastic. I really liked how the author ranked the recipes on a 1-5 scale to let me know the difficulty of each recipe beforehand. I have eaten at Sarah's Pastries and candies in Chicago quite a few times. In case you dont know about her, the author Sarah Levy owns some retail stores in Chicago which make some of the best sweets in the city (if you havnt tried her "royaltine" you are missing out!) [...] This book is a terrific gift! It has beautiful pictures throughout and offers excellent insight and instruction, tips and advice on how to cook/bake etc. This book is great for all levels too as it offers a wide range of recipes starting from sopme geared for terrible cooks (me) all the way to some recipes which I sense could offer a challenge for a top chef...
A warm welcome into the kitchen-not to be missed!

This book is the wave of the future in cookbooks! Chef Sarah Levy welcomes you into her kitchen, teaches you what tools and ingredients that make your life easier and then goes a step further to tell you where to look for them when shopping and how long you can store them at home. I am a self-described terrible cook, but her instructions guide you perfectly through the process. Your friends and family will be totally impressed with the look and taste of the treats in Sweetness!
