Preparing for the beach involves not only a swimsuit, but sunscreen, a tank top, flip-flops, and more. The day ends with a refreshing snow cone and a little one dozing in the car during the trip home. This description may be from another edition of this product.
Some authors write books that are simple enough for babies and entertaining enough for the adults who re-read them endlessly. This is one such book. The 18-month-old I care for loves it and so does her 4-year-old brother. One day I read it six times in a row! Every time, as soon as I turned to the "seaweed" page, they were already smiling before I said a word. Kit Allen has a winner here.
Swimsuit, beach fun, seaweed and a snow cone!

All of Kit Allen's books are just so much fun to read repeatedly. And the best part is, after reading these over a hundred times I never get sick of them. My son is in love with the illustrations and we get a kick out of how our son reacts to the "seaweed" picture. Very entertaining. But most importantly each story has word association to the pictures and they are easy to learn for the youngest "readers." And as a parent, I love the fact that each story ends with it's male/female character falling asleep after a busy day. Fun for parents, fun for toddlers and one of those,"why didn't we buy this sooner" books.
Multi-level experience

Sure, it's a kids' book about getting ready to go to the beach. But also, it's a sort of microfiction avant garde piece for the more "sophisticated" reader. One phrase and drawing a page and it still tells a story. And the drawing style is great. Look at that kid's head! Q: Why doesn't he have a nose? A: I told you, it's avant garde!P.S. Watch out for seaweed!
