Little Bear has a new sister. Now he's not the baby anymore. There's no room on Mama Bear's lap when she's holding Sister Bear. And Sister Bear's clumsy paws knock over Little Bear's toys. A baby... This description may be from another edition of this product.
The illustrations in this book would carry it, even if the story itself wasn't as endearing as it is. It's one of those 'warm-fuzzy' books for preschoolers..a read aloud book which parents will enjoy reading to their young children. The story centers around Little Bear who is feeling put-out because his new baby sister is getting all the attention in the family. Little Bear has decided that "having a little sister was not fun at all!", especially when his friend Willy shows up for fishing, and they decide to take Sister Bear with them. What a mistake! She's more trouble than they dreamed, what with her dawdling and splashing in the water---until Little Bear has just HAD IT and decides to GIVE her to Willy. Willy has always wanted a sister, and agrees to take Sister Bear for a bucket of fish. Of course, with Sister Bear splashing in the water, it's impossible to catch any fish at all, until Sister Bear falls asleep on the bank. Then the bears become engrossed in fishing, and Sister Bear wakes up and wanders off. The ending of the story, in which Little Bear is frantic with concern over finding his little sister, brings home the mixed feelings siblings have for each other. This is another winner about Little Bear from a talented writing/illustrating team.
