a (sweet! ;) ) book that I’ll never forget

Although this is the second book in the series, this was the very first that I read. It was in middle school, and, having recently moved, I was barely getting to know new people and a new city. This book holds a special place in my heart. Lisa does a great job using lighthearted writing to appeal to her young audience, and it’s very easy to have a good time and relate to this book. Not to mention, the problems the protagonist faces, like family issues and difficult times with friends, remain very vivid to young girls today. Her seamless inclusion of recipes and imagery at a bakery also makes this a very happy read. I will always have fond memories of this book— several years later I’m still reading her books. Thank you Lisa for having shared a little slice of Hayley’s (and your) world with us ! <3
