Tea Here Now demonstrates how tea and the simple act of preparing a cup of tea can give drinkers a taste of enlightenment. Written for the average person who wishes to infuse accessible, uncomplicated spirituality and mindfulness into his or her tea drinking, the book explores the health benefits, spiritual practices, and lifestyle-enhancing properties associated with the world's major blends, in the process creating a practical guidebook for the "tea lifestyle." Topics include the little-known history and mythology of tea, the health benefits, information on tea blends, tips and techniques for brewing the best cup, spiritual and meditation practices that complement and enhance tea drinking, practical ideas for carrying the spirit of tea into all aspects of one's life (relationships, business, mental health, etc.), old and new rituals to bring meaning and enjoyment to tea drinking, food pairings for tea, and inspirational quotes.
In the space of 2 weeks, I read 5 books on tea. Of those 5 books, Tea Here Now was the first one to be read. I really and truly enjoyed the book and it inspired me to no end. The other books, while terrific, did not satisfy me as much as Tea Here Now. As a student of tea ever since beginning studies in Chinese Medicine 10 years ago, I use tea in my healing practice and have had many wonderful experiences with clients because of the sharing of tea. The authors of this book truly speak to the liberating qualities of tea and the tea lifestyle. The book so thrilled me that I am ordering many copies to be available for clients and tea customers at our wellness center and tea shop. This book *needs* to be available for them. It will be included on my recommended reading list for all my tea classes from now on! Many thanks to Llasha and Donna for sharing this with us. May all beings drink good tea on their way to liberation and enlightenment!
among the more charming of tea books

This gem is truly among the most charming of tea books. The chapters introduce the reader to the notion of a 'tea lifestyle' and the importance of taking a moment for oneself throughout the day. There is a decent description of various kinds of tea and the 'way of tea' as well as delightful suggestions for individualizing the way of tea for one's own life. The only criticism that I have of the book (and of many such 'lifestyle' books) is the self-reference throughout the book--if you don't know the authors, these references have little meaning. However, these self-references don't take away from the book's charm and wisdom.
