One of the main challenges facing teachers at the Universidad de Occidente-Managua is to move from traditional models of assessment, clearly focused on exams and grading, to models of formative assessment, focused on improving learning. Formative assessment seeks to generate systematic processes of self-reflection on one's own learning, so that students develop greater control over learning to learn.
