Everyone loves scary stories and award-winning comedy writer/director Carl Reiner invites readers to huddle close as he tells a young boy's tale of the mysterious house next door. Parents and children can read along together as they listen to spooky sound effects and Carl Reiner's performance.
This book and the first one are cute halloween fun. Not for little little kids. i would say 5 and up. i would buy again.
Stories for Children Magazine 5 Star Review

Come take an adventure with a young boy and his monster-creating neighbor in this fun, colorfully illustrated storybook by Carl Reiner. The first book, Tell Me a Scary Story, was a hit in 2003, and I'm sure this one will be too! Kids will love reading the book or listening to the CD (included in the set) of the story of a young boy who finds his neighbor, a monster-creator for big movies, lying in a pool of something that looks a lot like blood. But it couldn't be . . . or could it? Did the monster mask that the young boy's neighbor had been making for him to wear this coming Halloween take on a life of its own? You'll have to read the book to find out. As children read-along with their parents, friends, or the read-along CD, Carl Reiner gives readers a way out as the story becomes scarier with pauses and questions such as: "Shall we turn the page, or is it too scary?" That's for the kids to decide on dark autumn night as they investigate the mystery of the monster-maker.
Great Book

This is a very cute book but I have to say that the cd does make the story. We have read it but isn't the same without the cd. The first time we did the story with the cd my son was sitting across the room and didn't want to do it but his younger brother did. Funny though my oldest would peek at the book and finally was on my lap helping turning the pages when needed. Also this is a good book for children who aren't used to listening to a story being read from a cd or tape, just another interesting way to enjoy a book!

We've read it at least 25 times, and he still loves it. But, then my son loves scary books. Depends on the child.

My 4yr old found this book at the library and HAD to borrow it. Looks like we'll end up buying it because it really is a fun one, esp on Halloween! It comes with a CD and is narrated by Carl Reiner. The story is about a boy who doesn't like his neighbor, Mr. Neewollah, who has a crooked smile...but one day finds a "staring" marble drop from a box his neighbor is carrying. Terrific illustrations that are fun and spooky for children AND adults! This will be a fun one to pull out every Halloween for a little spook!
