a little long--a little slow

I've never read anything else by this author, so I don't know if this book is representative of her work. While my favorite romances are westerns, I like to mix it up with a good 'pirate book' once in awhile... This was a typical, well-used story line of abducted innocent by the Captain's crew as a present for their much loved and handsome Captain. I wasn't as captivated with the main characters as I was some of the supportive characters. It made me wonder how Jackie, the stuttering adolescent the Captain saved from a slave ship fared as an adult under his care. Overall, I wouldn't recomend this book unless you're a hard core pirate book lover. I think I'll read another book by this author--something written recently--to see if she's long-winded by nature or this book was just a product of an earlier writing.
