insightful yet contrived

This is a rather disturbing and unrelenting book about a woman who was sexually molested as a child, only to see her young daughter harrassed, kidnapped, and brutally molested as well decades later. The author has a disturbingly thorough insight into the mind of a twisted pedophile. She must have interviewed countless pedophiles to be able to piece together similarities common to this type of monster. The reader actually began to understand how it can reason and rationalize its actions. I still shudder inside! Unfortunately, the plot, especially the ending, seems quite contrived and limited. I could imagine much worse fates for the sick bastard. Anyway, this is a definite "must read", and there are many tense moments throughout the book. Still, don't expect to be dazzled by intrigue, only disturbed to your very core by the many graphic depictions of little girls being raped and humiliated.
