This book did a very good job of giving you the story of some of the richest Texans in history.Sheehy gives you a detailed description of John Connally.He served three terms as the Governor of Texas.He then served in the President Richard Nixon administration in cabinet level positions.After returning to Texas he and his protege Ben Barnes made and lost a fortune.You could not tell a story of Texas wealth without mentioning the Hunts.H.L. Hunt had made a fortune in the oil business.His son Lamar helped found the A.F.L. His other son Nelson Bunker tried to corner the silver market eventually causing the market to crash.You also have a section devoted to H.Ross Perot who reached billionaire status by becoming a cmmputor tycoon.He would go on to run for President twice.Another colorful Texas character mentioned in this book is Clayton Williams.He is a native of Midland who made a fortune in the oil business.He was the Republican nominee for Governor who eventually lost to Ann Richards.The sucess of the Bass Brothers is also featured in this book.Their investment advisor Richard Rainwater turned their inheritance into a massive fortune.If you want a look at the Texas rich this is the book for you.
