The days of Susannah Everly dreaming about white dresses, churches and Trent Maxwell are long gone. So it's more than a little funny that she finds herself actually married to the guy. But she's determined to save the family ranch by any means possible, and if Trent is those means... Still, they both know the deal. This is a business arrangement and there are rules. Rules that do not include rekindling those old feelings or surprise midnight seductions. So what's Susannah to do when Trent seems determined to break their agreement? Especially when what he offers is way too tempting.
Texas Wedding is a beautifully crafted story filled with the angst only a marriage of convenience can bring. Kathleen O'Brien has created an exciting Cowboy Country series against a rustic ranch setting in Texas cattle country. Nothing means more to a rancher than her land, and Ms. O'Brien captures Susannah's determination to keep hers, like a modern-day Scarlett defending South Texas Tara. Contrary to the previous reviewer's confusion, it is Susannah's uncertainty and inherent conflict between her legacy in the land and the man she's loved in the past that make this story spark. After all, if the main characers are all hearts and flowers from the beginning, there's really nothing left to tell. Ms. O'Brien use of setting and character's history draws you in to Susannah's dilemma and have you rooting for her all the way to the end. An epilogue is simply redundant when Susannah and Trent and the rest of the Cowboy Country characters have already had their happy ending. I can't wait for another Kathleen O'Brien story.
