Ritter and Honig do a pretty good job of selecting the best players of all time in this book. In no particular order, they introduce each player with a few paragraphs of statistics and evaluations. They include some very rare photographs, too. Their list inclines more towards the past than the present. Players such as Tony Oliva, Pete Reiser, Smokey Joe Wood, and Herb Score are in the book because they were great players, even though injuries ended their careers prematurely, and I agree with them. However, Ritter and Honig also tend to like high batting averages and singles hitters of the past than the home run hitters of later years. Harmon Killebrew, Eddie Matthews, and Willie McCovey should probably be chosen over such players as Fred Lynn, Dave Parker, and Steve Garvey. Other than that, I really like this book. Their top 100 list is probably my favorite, over Maury Allen's and Pete Palmer's.
