In the hospital--again. The last time was when a car hit me. This should be a much shorter stay--I hope. There's not much to do here except sleep or listen to CDs. That's why I was so glad when Eric came to visit. But, boy, he had a way of making me mad I know it wasn't on purpose; I just didn't need anybody trying to make me feel better. There was something about him, though. He was different. But in a good way, like he had something special. Something I began to understand I was missing. It was a hard lesson to learn. But Eric gave me a wonderful gift. Just as soon as I get out of here, I'm going to pass it on to someone else I know who needs it too.
The Amazing SecretBy:Joni Eareckson Tada and Steve JensenReviewed by: L.BitPeriod:5 Many children would love the idea of staying home everyday from school with nothing to do but watch television, play video games, and sleep. But when you're in the hospital, everthing gets boring really fast and you wish that you would be able to go back to school. Darcy was a young girl when she got hit by a car riding her bike. She would always bring back memories of that exact day when she got hit by a red Corvette convertible. While she was in the hospital, she met this fascinating boy named Eric that got caught in a fire. Eric taught her many important things and he always made her feel better. She knew that Eric had this special secret that he couldn't help but to share with her. Once she found out this secret, she knew who she would pass it on to. I really enjoyed reading this book. One reason why I enjoyed it was beacause of this quote,"Dad, it's okay. I forgive you." This quote was said by Eric to his father. His father was the one who started the fire and it killed his mom and siblings. Even though Eric was in pain and got hurt a lot, he still forgave his father and gave him what he called a "Givestone" for forgivness. This quote taught Darcy that you should forgive someone even though they hurt you. From reading this book, I learned it too. One part that i disliked about this book was towards the begining when Darcy said mean things to Eric. "What kind of stupid question is that?", Darcy asked. This was one quote that Darcy said when she first met Eric. She wasn't very nice to him. He tried to make Darcy feel better and asked her some questions, but she was rude. My least favorite part of the book was when Eric died. He got a bad cold beacause he got stuck on top of the hospital roof while trying to show Darcy. Darcy and Eric we're becoming great friends and he taught Darcy a lot. Darcy always remembered him and what he told her.
