This story takes the reader into an animal world with a difference. It describes a community of barn owls and their struggle for survival. Under pressure from a huge "Monster Owl", the age-old society... This description may be from another edition of this product.
I liked this book from the start it..... it has a great intro with a family of Owls living in a barnyard and follows them in the adventure of one of them called Hunter. The beauty of the book is that it shows human feeling without being too sentimental which is a trap some animal books fall into. The adventures of Hunter the Owl as he discovers wisdom on the rocky road of life are adventures we can all associate with. The part where Hunter falls in love is pointantly portrayed and we can feel Hunter's sense of unhappiness and feeling of anger towards his own stayed upbringing in the Barn owl community it keeps the thread goin nicely with the betrayal of the larger community of owls to help Hunter protect them from the Monster Owl (a huge owl from the far off Nothern wastes) I liked this parrallel with the German eagle emblem and its similar monsterous conotations. All in all a top read and I am looking forward to another book by the same author :)
