When a sudden storm leaves a young girl alone, battling against rising flood waters, it looks as though only a miracle can save her--and one does. Poet and songwriter Douglas Kaine McKelvey has created an unforgettable story reminding us all of the tremendous power of faith. This book is a small masterpiece.--Cynthia Rylant.
The story is great, but not long enough to be worth the list prices on Amazon.
The edition I bought was the first edition, hardback, with dust jacket. It’s out of print and is about $50 on Amazon last time I checked. I got it here in TB for about $5. It’s a great deal and the story is really nice and heartfelt. I’ve met the author in person and he’s really nice.
A symphony in words.

The Angel Knew Papa and the Dog is a symphony in words. My children and I read together a great deal and this is the most moving piece of children's literature I have read in years. Every word in the story of this heroic little girl, is carefully chosen and yet flows with natural grace. We found ourselves re-reading many passages to immerse ourselves in them. This is the sort of book that causes one to hold one's breath to the finish... afraid to breathe for fear of missing a single sound ... afraid to breathe for fear of disaster. This book is not just for children. It is a work of art that can be appreciated by anyone who loves fine literature.
