The Art of Classic Quiltmaking
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 24 years ago
This is a beautiful quilt book, one of the best in recent years. The book is an exceptional reference book, as it includes information on fabric selection and preparation, tools and equipment, fabric cutting, calculating yardage, the types of settings for quilt blocks and how to achieve them, and the basics of the primary piecing techniques used by modern quilters. And, that is only the tip of the iceberg. There is one caveat though, this is not a pattern book. While the book includes dozens of pictures of gorgeous quilts, the book does not come with detailed instructions on how to reproduce most of them. You have to figure it out for yourself. Although the book can teach you how to draft blocks and calculate yardage for whatever size quilt you choose to make, making most of the quilts in this book might be more than most beginning quilters can handle. Nonetheless, whether you're a beginner or have years of experience, if you're a quilter, this book is well worth the investment. Any quilter would be well served by reading the book from cover to cover.
