An IVF Mistake

I love the premise of this novel: a young woman Emilia wants to have her deceased husband's baby, a handsome man Sam wants to help his brother and his sister-in-law have a baby by donating his sperm to them, and a mix-up at the lab. Sam is the father of Emilia's baby, so what should they do? Sam feels very protective of Emilia and the baby and wants to take care of them, but he has demons in his past that make him unable to commit to loving Emilia. The plot is excellent, but it doesn't really work for me. After the novel ended, and let me assure you that it ends happily as all romance novels do, I didn't feel a sense of "ah" and delight. In fact, I felt a little depressed which is not why I read romances. Not enough happened to bring them together. It was almost as if the author reached her word limit and just stopped. But the premis is great.
