This is the BEST beginner book on basketmaking that I have found. I believe it should be in everyones collection. The baskets are lovely and inovative. Even the most simple are elegant and useful. I have used this book until it is in shreds! The intructions are very clear and well illustrated. And the designs and patterns teach as well as instruct. I can`t say enough good about this book. If you intend to sell your baskets, this book will pay for itself on the first sale. And the baskets are charming and very saleable, even the easy ones. There are also some more challanging patterns for the more expirienced. A "must have" for any basketmaker.

This was my first basket book, and now I'm addicted to basketmaking. There are lots of great patterns including one for a wine basket that makes a great wedding/anniversary/birthday gift!

Lyn Siler has put together a great selection of basket patterns for the full spectrum of basket weavers. The instructions are extremely well-written and the illustrations and tips are wonderful. Definitely a top recommendation for anyone who enjoys weaving baskets.

This is the first book I bought as a beginning basket weaver. It has clear directions and wonderful illustrations. I've been able to make every basket without difficulty. It has a nice selection of different types of baskets. I would strongly recommend it for the beginning weaver as well as those more experienced.
An excellent guidebook: I have used it for several years.

Great photos usually show more than one variation of each basket. A "story" behind each basket provides a sense of usefulness and history. Directions are for a basic basket with suggestions for the variations. All instructions are clear, with detailed drawings for the difficult-to- explain areas such as lashings, twill patterns, and weaving transitions. Superb book!
