According to Naish and co, we have the opportunity to influence the health outcomes of our prospective children, by improving our own health prior to conception. If you are struggling to conceive, have suffered miscarriages, have given birth to a child with compromised health, are an older mother or just want to do the best thing by you and your family, then this is the book for you. They reccommend abstaining from processed food, caffeine, alcohol, recreational drugs, medications (where possible) for three months prior to conception, to allow us to provide the best quality sperm and eggs to make our children. Organic food is recommended, as is vitamin supplimentation (zinc veeeery important for both parents, taking selenium reduces the incidence of down syndrome), wholefood consumption and so on. They give info about health, exersize, best times to attempt conception, homeopathic and herbalist help, acupressure etc. Tons of good advice. If you follow their advice you are more likely to produce a robust, easier to manage infant. The benefits of good health management can last for us to 3 generations, so you are also influencing the health of your grandchildren and so on. i'd reccommmend this book to anyone.
