The idea for this book, The Black Lab Who Couldn't Swim, came to me years ago after Cola, our beloved black lab who was old and nearly blind, fell into our swimming pool and promptly sank to the bottom. He stood there on all fours looking around. My wife, Debbie, screamed and sprang to his rescue immediately to pull him out safely with no ill effects. The following year, Cola had another incident exactly as the one previously described, and thankfully, Debbie again saved him, and we kept him away from the pool following that, as Cola was not to be trusted around water
