The Book of Books, An Eclectic Collection of Reading Recommendations, Quirky Lists, and Fun Facts about Books - A book about books. Great adventure, novels, history, illustrated gift books, or... This description may be from another edition of this product.
This book is full of helpful suggestions for what to read next. The sections are organized by topic, and under each topic is a list of books or authors to try. Some of the categories are straightforward, such as American West Novels. Others are more inventive, such as New Yorker Contributors. I like that this book covers some non-fiction as well as literature - there are entries for Animal Behavior and Science, amongst others. The Book of Books would make a nice gift for any bookworm.
Great little book

While small, this book has about 200 lists of books under a variety of categories from African-American Novels (Stories of 20th Century African-American Life) to Young Adult Novels (Michael L. Printz Award Winners 2000-2006). Most lists are 8 items long and include title, author and year published followed by a couple of sentences about the book. Eclectic categories such as Muckraking Classics, Magical Realist Literature, Big Stuff Novels, Golf Novels, Hoaxes and Forgeries in Literature, Pen Names, Psychopaths in Literature, and Writer's in Captivity can be found as well as the usual ones of poets, fiction, crime stories, 19th century novels, chick lit, etc. are there. Categories are listed alphabetically. It provides great ideas to find something to read for anyone. The cons to this book are that there is no table of contents or index. It would be nice to have a table of contents and an index by author.
