"Compelling arguments, supported by both anecdotal and empirical evidence to convince readers that school choice does nothing to improve the quality of education. ... Solidly researched and written, Smith's and Meier's effort should sway those still undecided on the issue". -- Publishers Weekly
a strong statement against those that would ruin our schools. Read it to defend yourself against the right wing wackos.
Empirical rejection of school choice
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 25 years ago
Meier and Smith do a fine job in this book of rejecting the theory of school choice, by testing it against the actual outcome of choice and voucher proposals. They offer a variety of studies, local, national and international, that look at the effect of vouchers, and in doing so offer a solid case against them. It is about time someone put some research into this debate, which generally has relied upon theory rather than fact.
