Christian counselling for dealing with Christians and non-Christian issues
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 15 years ago
The Christian Counsellor's Pocket Guide by Selwyn Hughes is a 96 page paperback which is spit into three sections. Section A deal with 16 most common problems that trouble Christians; section B is 12 objections raised by many non-Christians and whilst the last section confronts 8 intellectual questions given as excuses as to why they don't want to become Christians. The book is very helpful and for each subject gives 5-7 Scriptures and then on the opposite page, gives some advice and other helpful suggestions, questions, pointers and Scriptures. The odd thing about the book is that there is no contents page at the beginning, stating all of the contents, but you do find a contents page at the beginning of each section. The end of the pages have a blue strip which increase in length for each subsequent page of any given section - quite novel. The book, i found very helpful and useful, though the translations used, such as the Living Bible, Phillips and the Goods News Bible are a bit simplified, but none-the-less is is worth the money to pick up a copy and makes good bed-time reading as each section is covered in 2-4 minutes.

Do not let the size of this book fool you. It is jam packed with great information. It is a "must have" for anyone working to counsel others. It clearly and concisely answers the most common questions people have. General areas covered are:Difficulties of Unbelievers, Problems Christians Face and Intellectual Arguements. Specific questions are answered and backed up with Scripture. Christian counselors and workers should commit this book to memory.

Selwyn Hughes does a good job in dealing with the most common problems people face (Christian and Non-Christian sections inlcluded) and with the basic objections you will face in witnessing. Scripture references and a discussion of each issue are side by side on separate pages. A book I recommend to all Christians to review and keep on their bookshelves! This compact reference manual will come in handy in moments of need
