The Complete Guide to Roofing & Siding c overs all traditional materials, from wood lap siding, brick, concrete block, stucco, stone veneer, and wooden shakes to vinyl, raised-ridge metal roofing, and... This description may be from another edition of this product.
Bought this book to help my wife and I to teach us how to remove old roof and install new roof. So far from what I have read, this is a great book! Lots of pictures and detailed instructions. However, even though this book covers metal roofing it lacks in my opinion the details needed by a novice as myself to do the job myself. So the wife and I decided to go with asphalt shingles.

This book goes over things in a big picture can of way. It is very macro not micro. If you want to know how to install something specific it would make sense to get a book only about that. If you have to fix some things wrong with your roof or siding this might be a good book. It has info for all different kinds of materials and projects. If you need an overview of roofs and siding this is a great book. You can't go wrong with the Black & Decker series. They do a great job giving you info for a wide variety of situations.

Helpful. Helps clue you in if you have never done roofing or siding work before. Won't magically turn you into a tradesperson (nothing can without on-the-job experience), but will clue you in on how stuff is done. I imagine that even people in the trade might benefit from it, if only to see variations on the way that their own company does things.
