Your students will conjure the world of Homer and Alexander, Plato and Socrates, gods and heroes, with craft projects that illustrate fundamental Greek contributions to modern civilization. They will experience the high drama and intrigue of the Punic Wars by making a Trojan Horse, pay homage to the Olympian gods by building their very own Parthenon, learn to play an ancient stringed instrument, and fashion a papier-m?ch? replica of the distinctive black and red pottery of the Greeks.
Historical Crafts Your Children Will Actually Want to Make!
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 18 years ago
Having looked through just about every craft book out there for the study of the Ancient World, I would say this rates as one of the best. The information is substantial and actually interesting to read- not simply filler for the book. The crafts are gorgeous- things you and your children will enjoy making and which you will be proud to display. The techniques are interesting and neither too easy nor too hard. Materials needed are not difficult to obtain, and the instructions are clear. There are some clever ideas for obtaining results such as the jewelry craft and the model Parthenon- one of the best I've seen. All in all, this book is an excellent investment if you want to get crafty over the Greeks!
