The Crash Davis Effect: How To Be a Great Stable Pony aka IMPACT Catcher

First off, I'm a former Pitcher and I specialize in working with Pitchers. It is assumed that you are already solid with blocking, receiving and pop time (etc). What I can help you out with is reading and handling Pitchers psychologically. Scouts ask me all the time if I have any "Impact Catchers" to recommend to them. By "Impact", they are referring to someone who knows how to get the most out of their pitchers mentally. Bengie Molina writes in his book that, "the true measure of a man is in that which cannot be measured." Scouts use terms like "6th Tool", "Makeup" and "Intangibles" when referring to the mental side, but the meanings are usually vague or only refer to one aspect of the psychological continuum. I have invented and developed a system called the 5 Mental Tools (just like the 5 regular Tools Scouts use to evaluate prospects) and it helps to accurately quantify the full range. It gives a more tangible and consistent discourse for Scouts and Coaches to be more precise in assessing the most important aspect of a prospect. I primarily teach the 5 Mental Tools to Pitchers in order to help them increase their self-awareness, autonomy and self-efficacy. The results have been consistently impressive at the High School, D1, D2 and Professional Levels too. Interestingly, I have also helped some Professional beach volleyball girls get impressive results too.
