By Sam MartinThe story tells of two boys who face the challenges of a small coastal town that is beset by an ancient curse. Mike is the good looking and smart son of a fisherman, and Speddie, who lives with his beloved Grammy, well, Sped will tell you the whole story. As lifelong friends, Mike and his buddies protect Speddie from teasing and goading of the school kids where they both attend. Meanwhile, he excels in sports and academic classes. A small group of close friends gather together for protection and fun times, and of course, loads of homework. Mike and Sped are joined by Tug, Derek, Jane, Zack and Tawney. Grammy watches over the group from a distance, but provides more than encouragement for them and the small town. After their high school graduation, things begin to change. Sped and Mike face one disaster after another, as the mythical curse continues to haunt the Cove. As the town is about to open a brand new Tsunami safe school, a horrific fire sweeps through the dune grasses and scrub pine, destroying half of the vacation homes and tourist businesses. But this is just the beginning. King tides and winter storm waters flood the cranberry fields and wash away a bridge, barns and businesses. Yet the curse persists. The tight group of friends began to lose touch, until Jane and Zack break up, leaving Jane pregnant and dependent on Mike, Sped and Grammy. On the way to the hospital to deliver, a terrible accident leaves Jane in a coma, Mike in a wheelchair, and baby Katch cradled in the arms of Grammy. Sped becomes the man of the house and family caretaker. And the worst is yet to come. Did somebody say "Tsunami?" Join Mike and Sped on this rocky journey where the past holds secrets to survival in the future
