Skye Fargo doesn't want to get involved in the hunt for Jess Van Cleef. A twisted killer who cuts the faces off his victims. Trouble is Fargo finds it difficult to say no to a pretty lady and soon he teams up with Pris Harrison as she attempts to track down Van Cleef. It isn't long before Fargo has his doubts about Miss Harrison but he doesn't have much time to dwell upon them as there's others tracking Van Cleef and more still who want revenge on the Trailsman and his beautiful trail partner. It isn't long before Fargo finds himself on the wrong end of a gun... This book presents the reader with some pretty gruesome imagery of Van Cleef's victims and of his trophies. There's twists and turns to the plot although maybe not as much action as one expects from a Trailsman book. Nevertheless this was an entertaining read that builds to a ending of treachery and savagery. It was fun noticing all the nods to film stars or characters from films and also to other western writers such as Tuttle and Frazee.
