Thunder claps, lightning strikes and her imposing new mansion looms high, but Miss Marchant is not one to be afraid. Not willful, beautiful Sydony Marchant. If the house doesn't shock her, the arrival of Viscount Hawthorne does. No longer the boy she once kissed--Bartholomew is a man with a ruthless glint in his eye. He's here to uncover a truth and ruin Sydony. But they are soon entangled in secrets darker than they know. And as the tension crackles between them, the memory of their innocent kiss is no longer enough....
I don't believe this book was as bad as some of the other reviewers have let on. It was different than her previous books, with a very gothic slant to it (gothic like gargoyles and hedge mazes and haunted mansions not black makeup and clothes) instead of the medieval turn that we all know and love. Sydny was too suspicious and sometimes you wanted to knock one of the characters upside the head, but that's in every book. And true, it didn't move me like other books have, but it was not a waste of money and time. It was enjoyable and I am so glad that she is writing again. I can't wait until Reynold's book comes out!!
