Even after seven years this book was still a tremendous help to me. I think every woman who has lost her husband should read this book. I just wish I would of had it when my husband passed away.

I found this book after my husband passed in 2000. It helped much more than the support group I joined, my friend's and family's well-meaning suggestions/help. Helen Reichert Lambin hits the nail on the head with every paragraph. Something to keep and read over and over. I recommend it highly to any woman who has lost her husband. Everyone has their own way of coping & grieving and this book can definitely help. I plan to purchase it as a gift for a friend who, this week, lost her husbandin a hit and run accident.

You will read this book more than once and can open it at random and read any chapter. I found myself on every page and kept having the feeling I wrote it myself. Your feelings are so confused at this time you doubt your sanity but are reassured by her experience. The whole journey of grief is like walking a path of broken glass without shoes but she is a wonderful guide. It's simply stated and an easy read.
I'm not alone!

After losing my husband suddenly 4 years ago it had been suggested by well-meaning friends and relatives to try this group, that seminar, etc. My mood swings nearly sent them over the edge and they had me believing that there was something terribly wrong with me. After reading "The Death of a Husband" I discovered there was. I WAS GRIEVING! It belongs to me and no one else. But I am not alone. There was someone else out there who was feeling like I am, thinking like I do, acting like I do...this I learned I must do. I must thank Helen Reichert Lambin for putting her angst into print. It has helped me tremendously. I am reading it now for the 3rd time. Each time I do, I highlight more and more passages, and I laugh more and more each time I read it. I have several friends who recently lost their husbands (we are all under 45) and have recommended this book highly. Thank you.
