The Dollar-Table Hammer by Dale Clarence Peterson lovingly chronicles the joyful, as well as the trying, times the author and his family experienced during extreme seasonal changes, encounters with local wildlife, and other challenges, with a sense of humor and an understanding of the value of New Hampshire's life lessons. Set in East Pickerel Corners, New Hampshire, Peterson's book introduces readers to his distinctly New England way of life. From the annoying and itchy bites of fleas and chiggers, to the necessity of winter foundation wraps, Peterson explores why New Hampshire living is unlike any other locale. Beautifully written and hilariously funny, The Dollar-Table Hammer mixes the wit of Dave Barry with the warmth of James Harriot. A wonderful portrait of an engaging family and a unique way of life, The Dollar-Table Hammer is sure to enchant readers wherever they live.

Rural should never be used a synonym of nothing happening. "The Dollar-Table Hammer" is a memoir from one Dale Clarence Peterson, a resident of New Hampshire who reflects on the strange eccentricities of small town life and the challenges they face, be they from nature or man made buildings starting to show their centuries of age. Entertaining and an enlightening look at life in the middle of nowhere, "The Dollar Table Hammer" is quite the treasure.

Delightful read, cover to cover. Dale Peterson imparts a healthy dose of profound wisdom and good ol' wry common sense in the guise of hilarious, light-hearted short stories. Each chapter includes a memorable and useful subtitle, and the book is laced with Peterson's oh-so-witty sketches. Whether you can relate to New England idiosyncracies or not, you'll love this book. Everyone will find something to which they can relate. Hilarious...heartwarming...I'm thinking stocking stuffers... Dale Peterson is a great storyteller. I was disappointed when I reached The End of the Dollar-Table Hammer, and can't wait for the next book...

The Dollar-Table Hammer Great book! Fast read. Very tongue in cheek humor with vivid descriptions of life and raising a family in New Hampshire. Looking forward to Mr. Petersons next book, Boxes of Clay.

I am really enjoying this book! Peterson has a way with making us feel like we are right in the thick of it with him. I can relate so very well owning an old NH house myself and living here for 15 years. He makes me laugh with all his comments on life and living! What fun! A must read!
