In the second installment in the Dopeman's Trilogy, JaQuavis Coleman chillingly chronicles the life and crimes of Harlem resident Hazel Brown, as she rises to the highest highs and spirals into an inevitable, devastating downfall. Hazel has nothing and no one in her life; the only thing she "owns" is an insatiable addiction to heroin. Her addiction brings her to the slums, where she quickly learns the tricks of surviving--of hustling and getting her street smarts. She'll do anything to feed her habit, even if that means robbing and conning and selling her own body. Yet no matter how much heroin she does, the pain that's cut so deep within her never goes away in this story so intimate and compellingly written, you'll feel like you're walking in her shoes.
From reading books like thes , it really helps sees what society has truly turned to. This as great book and the author aways delivers. Im so thankful that I choose not to live a life as described in the pages, actaully Lets say never been encountered with a life of the characters, and I can only give all the Thanks to the Creator. Think about all the lives thats been destroyed behind drugs. Graet author.

The book was good but I was hoping that more characters from the dopeman's wife would have been included in this book. Hazel, Seven and Millie were the main characters. Millie was the only person that I remembered from the first book in this trilogy. I will be waiting for the last book. I recommend this book because so many people have drug addictions that take over their life. I wish that Hazel would have been survived the hood but she had a sad life...
A GOOD READ....

Every time I think of giving street fiction a break, Ashley or JaQuavis pull me back in. Dopefiend is by far THE BEST BOOK I HAVE EVER READ. Hazel is the daughter of an ex-kingpin and a junkie mother, but follows in her mother's footsteps when she meets Millie and becomes addicted to heroin. It seems like being an addict was her sad fate because it was all she knew. But when she meets Seven (OMG, hmm, hmm, hmm Seven) he is her prince in shining armor, but of course the game gets in the way and she betrays him. The plot in this read is magnificent while the character development pulls you in immediately and doesn't let you go until the end. This is a tragic story of friendship and love, not to mention my girl MIllie from The Dopeman's Wife is killing it in this new joint. I can't say that I'm surprised because JaQuavis always brings it in his books. I was left sad, mad, completely shocked and with my jaw dropped to the floor. PHENOMENAL! KUDOS! Can't wait for Part 3. I'm just mad that it doesn't come out until the end of the year.
