Being the second one in the series, I had my doubts about this book. The first opened so well with so many characters being introduced and being made interesting. This one did not disappoint. I read it in two days and the villain is one of the most evil I've seen. Sampson does a good job of handling a main hero that is a kender. I've read bad kender books (Kendermore) and this is not a worry. One of the best points in the book is the underground maze and the main hero Tayt.
