"November gray. End of day. Mist time. Smoke-time. Rabbit-time. Magic-time." On a gray city street a little girl and her dog meet a rabbit. They follow him, and suddenly find themselves in a world full of flowers, of statues that come to life, of magical animals that dance in the ballroom. They are in a world where anything can happen, the world of the enchanted garden. This is a beautiful picture book for children, full of fascinating pictures which tell the story so well that there is no need for words. SUSIE JENKIN-PEARCE's illustrations contain references to some of the great gardens of Britain, including Ann Hathaway's garden, Hidcote and Lanhydrock, which inspired her to create this, her first book.
The enchanted gareden that I read as a child was a collection of stories on Greek mythology, such as Pandora's Box. This book was given to me when I was nine years old. It was loaned out and never returned. All the stories in the book had relevant meanings to different situation in life.
