The authors of this Calligraphy Encyclopedia have graciously taken the time to show step by step how to write and illuminate 13 different "hands". I just received this in the mail today, but there are so many pictures that I have already learned several things that I didn't know before. They discuss how hands vary, how to rule lines, how to add color or gilding to letters, layout principles, and examples of how to illuminate letters. The last 50 pages are examples of beautifully executed Calligraphy designs. I also appreciate the page of resources that tell about suppliers of Calligraphy materials, Calligraphy Societies, and other suggested reading. I am very glad that I got this book!
