A highly informative, highly illustrated guide to the world of horses. Text and illustrations combine to provide a comprehensive look at all aspects of the horse. A one-stop reference guide to the... This description may be from another edition of this product.
The Encyclopedia Of Horses and Ponies is full of facts, photos, and interesting breed descriptions. Highly reccomended for children and young adults who are just learning about horses. It can also be a valubale resource for more experianced young riders, too, with it's concise but informative breed chapters. The whole book is obviously for reference only; the young audience it is directed to are not going to be using the "Choosing Stallions" section. But, as an every day reference book it is not bad, and all the information is pretty acurate. I do think it is strange that they classify the Morgan horse as a "dressage horse", the Appaloosa a "Jumping horse" and call the Chincoteague pony "little known", but you have to realize this book is from England and all the breeds I mentioned are big in America, but still growing in England. Apart from that, pretty good!
