A quick family visit turns into a battle of magic between good and evil."All hail to the Crown of Death!"Though all the members of the coven cried out the words, Morgan remained stubbornly silent.... This description may be from another edition of this product.
This was a great break for me when I read it. A stand-alone novel, quick-paced enough to read in one sitting if you feel like it, it's a 'real world' take on sorcery, without the assumption that there's a whole fantastic world of elves and dragons just hidden out there in the shadows. The basic plot is that a sorcerer is looking for his brother, who's recently gone missing. If you've ever read Katherine Kurtz's Adept series, then this book was a lot like those. If you like this but haven't read them, then GO DO IT! They're even better.
A "hard" fantasy novel.

Looking for a good fantasy novel but tired of dragons, elfs and trolls? This is the book for you. A "hard" fantasy novel of magicians in a real world, the plot, motivation and characters have enough depth to be interesting not shallow or superficial. A good read for a rainy day.
One of the best fantasy books I've ever read!

This is an excellent book. I know I've read it at least 5 times and each time it keeps me turning the pages not wanting to put it down. If you can find a copy I recomend you get it.

This book was the mainstay of my collection! I only noticed it missing recently (I moved) and I am very upset! It is a delicious page turning adventure starring a man and his familiar (cat of course). It all started as an attempt to visit our hero's brother, but things get weird when we find the brother vanished! Evil is afoot and the chase scenes are excellant. I don't know why this book was taken out of print: It has been a favourite of mine since it was published! READ THIS BOOK =8)
