This is the first in the delightful series, The Wizard Tells a Story, by Scott Sutton. I have read this book to my own children and to my students for almost 20 years, never failing to entertain and teach the lesson of protecting our environment. The illustrations are colorful and captivating, and the story cleverly written in rhyme. It is best to start with the first book, The Family of Ree, since it describes all the characters and their relationships to each other. Once you start with the first book, you will want to read the continuing series all with a different lesson to teach your children!
