Shining a light on a little-known piece of history The Flight Girls is a sweeping portrayal of women's fearlessness, love, and the power of friendship to make us soar.
1941. Audrey Coltrane has always wanted to fly. It's why she implored her father to teach her at the little airfield back home in Texas. It's why she signed up to train military pilots in Hawaii when the war in Europe began. And it's why she insists she is not interested in any dream-derailing romantic involvements, even with the disarming Lieutenant James Hart, who fast becomes a friend as treasured as the women she flies with. Then one fateful day, she gets caught in the air over Pearl Harbor just as the bombs begin to fall, and suddenly, nowhere feels safe.
To make everything she's lost count for something, Audrey joins the Women Airforce Service Pilots program. The bonds she forms with her fellow pilots reignite a spark of hope in the face war, and--when James goes missing in action--give Audrey the strength to cross the front lines and fight not only for her country, but for the love she holds so dear.
Don't miss Noelle Salazar's next sweeping story, THE LIES WE LEAVE BEHIND, where a fearless nurse must leave love behind when duty calls her back to the front...

What a Beautifully told story ...of women who joined the WASP program during the war. It's a story of endearing love, and Courage...Friendships that were formed with so many memorable characters..not just the women ..but the men too. It's a story full of emotion...of friends loss and new ones made, of lives not forgotten..bonds that are made and never broken. It's a portrayal of womens strength and fearlessness..who's lives and service to their country..were never acknowledged till 1977 When President Carter granted them full military status for their service. An Excellent Excellent Story..that captivated me right from the very start...till the very last page. I LOVE Noelle Salazar's writing..this is the 2nd book I've read by her...and I wish she had a hundred more behind this !! Fabulous story..that deserves all of 5 stars ! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Wonderful story of women's courage during a terrible war. The Flight Girls were unappreciated for so long, glad someone told their story. It's a great read, I've read it twice so far!
Don't Mistake This For "Just A Woman's Book". A Great, Touching Tale!
Published by D Evans , 3 years ago
I read a lot of history, & made the Happy Mistake of getting this Wonderful Tale as war history. Yes, it's basically perhap's a "women's read", but fill's out a man's understanding (I feel a better person for having read it.) of both the unrecognized and basically Ignored role of women's (my Blessed Mother's generation) Significant contribution to our nation's great STAND for FREEDOM throughout the world in WW II.
Am saddened that apparently there are not more of this wonderful author's work out there to help make us all better human beings.
