For they are willing to do anything just to be loved even if it's just for a little while. Readers grow deeply attached to Bridgette as she confides in them about the sexual abuses, afraid to share the details for fear of judgment, of misjudgment. As details emerge, Bridgette learns how such abuse may impair and obscure anyone's way of thinking. The educated, poor, rich, no matter the ethnicity. Reactions to abuse have no prejudice regarding who they affect.
