The Gates of Matter
When the first humans were emerging unto this world, the grand architect placed twelve Gates at different locations across the globe. These Gates act as doorways, or portals, to the dimensions of Love and Fear. Six Gates lead to the plane of Love, and six lead to the plane of Fear. These Gates are collectively fed by the weight of the subconscious dreams, hopes, fears, and nightmares of all sentient life. From these dimensions stem our angels... and our demons.
The collective suffering of the ever swelling numbers of mankind has created an imbalance between them. Now, the Plane of Fear, aided by its Champion of Fear, grows distended and unstable. Much like an unfathomably volatile tumor, Fear gnaws at the edges of reality, constantly growing from the sorrow and uncertainty inflicted upon mankind. Tears are now beginning to appear and beings of Fear, made flesh, are finding their way into the world once more. Only the Champion of Love, imbued with unearthly power, has the power to stop the imbalance and prevent the end of the world.
